Matt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University in 1990. In 1993, he graduated from the Columbia University School of Law. During his law school years, Matt clerked for two federal judges in New York City and for the United State Attorney's Office in Salt Lake City, Utah.
After graduating from law school, Matthew began his career as a federal prosecutor in the United States Attorney’s Office in Utah. While there, his practiced focused primarily on the prosecution of white collar crime, including frauds committed against banks and other financial institutions.
After leaving the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 1997, he joined David K. Isom & Associates where he practiced complex civil litigation, including the representation of Fortune 500 companies in major contract and fraud disputes. He has significant experience in class action litigation and Indian law, and is a trained and experienced mediator. As a partner at Fillmore Spencer, his practice now includes general civil and commercial litigation, criminal defense and family law representation, as well as appeals of both civil and criminal issues in both state and federal courts.
