Arlen L. Card
   Arlen L. Card graduated in 1986 from Brigham Young University as a National Merit Scholar in Music Composition. He began freelance work as a film composer at that time, and completed a Masters Degree in Composition in 1991, also at BYU. In 1987, he was awarded a fellowship by Robert Redford's Sundance Institute to study with accomplished Hollywood composers David Newman, Alan Sylvestri, Bruce Broughton, and the late Henry Mancini. During his career as a film composer, Arlen won numerous awards, and has over 90 films to his credit. He also developed a career as a writer and story consultant for screenplays and novels, became a real estate investor, and served as a part-time faculty member at BYU for five years. By virtue of his work in music, film, publishing and real estate industries, Arlen became intrigued with contracts and negotiations and determined to seek a law degree, which he received from Brigham Young University in 2001, with additional training in mediation. He opened his solo practice in 2002 in Provo, Utah, centering on contract law and estate planning. In late 2004, Mr. Card joined the law firm of Fillmore Spencer LLC, where he now practices in the areas of entertainment law, business and contract law, estate planning, real estate, copyrights, and trademarks. Jennifer K. Gowans
     Jennifer K. Gowans graduated cum laude in Speech Communications from the University of Utah in 1993. She graduated cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1996, during which time she received certificates of achievement for her distinguished legal research and writing skills, particularly in the subjects of prosecution, defense functions and constitutional law. Under the direction of Professor R.J. Davis, she assisted in the drafting and development of a proposed model water code. She also completed an externship with the Criminal Division of the Utah Attorney General's Office and an internship with Nextel Communications. After graduating from law school, she worked independently on appeals and performed legal research for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regarding issues of property ownership and civil marriage in various foreign countries, particularly South Africa. In 1997, she joined the American Bank of Commerce, where she worked for four years as an internal auditor, a loan officer, and an assistant vice president. Joseph M. Hepworth
     Joseph M. Hepworth graduated magna cum laude in East Asian History from Brigham Young University in 1981 and magna cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1984, where he served as the Lead Note and Comment Editor on the Law Review. After law school, Mr. Hepworth clerked for the Honorable Bruce S. Jenkins, then Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Utah. He then entered a complex litigation and bankruptcy practice in the Salt Lake City office of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby and MacRae, and later, after joining the regional firm of Bryan Cave in St. Louis, added an emphasis in government contract litigation. In 1991, McDonnell Douglas Corporation invited him to join their in-house legal team, where he advised the Procurement Division and assisted with mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Hepworth moved to Arizona to advise the Apache Helicopter program for McDonnell Douglas and, later, Boeing after the two merged. In 2004, Alliant Techsystems hired Mr. Hepworth as a Group Vice President of Contracts and Legal Affairs. He joined Fillmore Spencer in 2008. Mr. Hepworth is a former Co-Chair of the Committee on Federal Subcontracting of the American Bar Association Public Contracts Section, a former Vice Chair of the Arizona Valley Forward Board of Directors, and former Vice Chair of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce Legal Affairs Committee. He has developed an expertise in negotiation, participating in several workshops at the Harvard Negotiation Project, and has taught the principles of interest based negotiation to hundreds of contract professionals, program managers and executives. His publications include Joint Self Mediation: How the Apache Program Avoids Litigation, Arizona ADR Forum, January 2004, p. 6, and Subcontracting with the Government: Using a Defense Depot as a Supplier, ABA Section of Public Contract Law, Fall Meeting, November 1997. He was one of the principle co-authors of the first edition of the Guide to Fixed Price Supply Contract Terms and Conditions, published by the ABA Section of Public Contract Law. Mr. Hepworth reads, writes and speaks Korean. He handles a variety of commercial transactions and government contracts for the firm and is a trained mediator for commercial disputes. Eric E. Marchant

     Eric E. Marchant graduated top of his class, with a 4.0 GPA in 3 years of academic studies, from the College of Southern Utah, (now Southern Utah University) with a double major in political science and Spanish. Mr. Marchant graduated from the J. Reuben Clark Law School and passed the Utah State Bar in 1978. Over the past three decades, he has had an extensive career as a business owner, Chairman, CEO, consultant, and corporate executive to a variety of domestic, multi-national, and global companies. Most recently, Mr. Marchant served as Senior V.P. and Managing Director at Neways International and Nikken Incorporated, two multi-national hundred million dollar companies. In this capacity, he managed and collaborated with domestic and international departments from around the world, including markets in the USA, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the United Kingdom, Israel, Russia, Canada and Mexico. Brett G. Scharffs
  
Brett G. Scharffs is a professor at the J. Reuben Clark School of Law specializing in securities, business and international law, has associated with Fillmore Spencer as a consultant on securities and corporate law matters. He graduated from Georgetown University magna cum laude with a B.S.B.A. in International Business in 1986, and received an M.A. in Philosophy summa cum laude from Georgetown in 1987. He earned a B.Phil. in philosophy from Oxford University in 1989, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. He graduated from Yale Law School in 1992, where he was a Senior Editor of the Yale Law Journal. After law school, he clerked for Judge David B. Sentelle on the U.S. Court of Appeals, D.C. Circuit. Professor Scharffs practiced securities and corporate law for three years with the prominent New York City law firm Sullivan & Cromwell before joining the Brigham Young University Law School faculty in 1997. Eric T. Blum

    Eric T. Blum graduated from Brigham Young University in 2002 with a B.S. in Economics.  In 2006, he graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Loyola Consumer Law Review, represented Loyola in the regional American Bar Association negotiation and client counseling competitions, advised small business clients in the law school’s Business Law Clinic, and received the 2006 Leadership and Service Award.  Mr. Blum practiced in the corporate and securities group of a large, international law firm in Las Vegas, Nevada prior to joining Fillmore Spencer.  He has represented start-up, emerging growth and publicly held companies on a variety of local, national and international business transactions and securities offerings.  His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing, private placements, joint ventures, commercial contracts and corporate governance.  He is a member of the MountainWest Capital Network, a Utah-based network of professionals involved in capital formation for growing businesses.
