Randy graduated cum laude in Japanese Studies from Brigham Young University in 1991. While studying Japanese, he worked as a Japanese tour guide at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii and on a tourist yacht in Southeast Alaska. He subsequently enrolled at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University where he excelled in the moot court program. In the moot court program, Randy won the Western Regional Championship and competed in the world championship in Washington, D.C. He graduated from law school in 1994 in the Order of the Barristers.
After law school, Randy clerked for a trial court judge before accepting a position at the Utah County Public Defenders Association. As a public defender, he successfully tried many high profile cases which drew national attention. While with the Public Defender's Office Randy served as the Assistant Director at the Utah County Public Defender Association for two years before entering private practice in 1999.
Since entering private practice Randy has successfully tried numerous high profile cases, many of which have been reported in the national and international news. One of these notable cases, State of Utah v. Larry Peterman, was featured on Court TV. In addition to trying such high profile cases Randy has also argued numerous cases before the Utah Court of Appeals and the Utah Supreme Court. Randy also spends his time helping people receive fair compensation for injuries and losses sustained in various accidents. Randy’s success has led him to be recognized as one of “Utah’s Legal Elite” by Utah Business Magazine.
